Virgil’s diverse background in the fashion world began in 2009 with the opening of RSVP Gallery in Chicago which includes an art gallery and menswear boutique. Later that year he met up with Kanye West and ultimately joined his creative agency Donda. Using his background in architecture and design, Abloh worked as a creative director and oversaw projects ranging from stage shows to concert merch. Three years later Virgil stepped out on his own, opening his first fashion brand Pyrex Vision. The brand was centered around screen printing, using shirts from brands like Champion and Ralph Lauren to further the street-style concept. In 2013 Pyrex Vision closed its doors, but later that same year Virgil Abloh launched his revolutionary unisex streetwear label Off-White. Based in Milan, the brand has been worn by icons including Beyoncé, Rihanna, ASAP Rocky, and Jay-Z.

Vigil Abloh’s appointment as new LV menswear designer is said to be a result of the increasing popularity of new wave street-style interlacing with luxury brands. His background as a DJ (known as Flatt White), and his mentality which is centered around authentic streetwear, give him a unique edge and will surely assist him in bringing new modern styles to the brand.
With nearly two million followers on Instagram Abloh has said he hopes to bring new, fresh energy to the luxury fashion world. There is already hype surrounding his collaborations with Nike, with new colors and styles in the works
